Get Involved

The Brookfield Lacrosse Association is a volunteer driven club. What does that mean? It means that this organization is better together! From our field liners to the Board of Directors, each and every individual donates their time in order to foster an experience for our children through the sport of lacrosse.

This is where you come in. Each player’s guardian or adult is required to volunteer at least 4 hours a season in order to make this machine work. However, we aren’t that cold-hearted. We understand that life happens and most of us have kids going in multiple directions, we ask that you support the club through your checkbook.

At the beginning of the season, your team leader (read: a nicer name for “manager”) will collect a $250 volunteer deposit from you. At the end of the season, those who were able to meet the 4 hour requirement will have their deposit returned. If you’re not able to meet the volunteer hours requirement, we would like to thank you for your donation to the program!

Opportunities to engage

  • I cannot say this enough, we will always welcome adults who are interested in passing on their lacrosse and / or leadership values to this next generation. If you’d like to learn more, let’s get in contact.

This position fully satisfies the volunteer requirement.

  • The team leader is a parent that serves as the liaison between coaching staff and team parents. They should be the point of contact for Brookfield Lacrosse and the parents.

Lacrosse is a growing sport and the parents (especially the parent team leader) can help us continue on our mission to grow the game. Want to do treats after a game? Awesome. Interested in coordinating coaches gifts or having an end of season party? That's a fantastic idea! The parent leader represents your team and the culture you'd like to have while instilling the overall BLA code of conduct.

This position fully satisfies the volunteer requirement.

  • The role of the uniform coordinator is to be the point of contact for the team and Program Directors regarding the sizing, ordering and distribution of uniforms. Additionally, the uniform coordinator should collect the player numbers to avoid duplication. Note: returning players have “first dibs” on their number.

This role should verify all kids have their correct uniforms, be available to answer questions from new parents. Additionally, this position should help market the spirit wear gear when the BLA pop-up store opens.

This position fully satisfies the volunteer requirement.

  • As mentioned, BLA is fully supported by volunteers which, in itself, needs coordination. Each game needs a set of volunteers per team in order to ensure the game runs smoothly. Each game requires:-

    • Scoreboard / scorekeeper

    • Clock

    • Culture Keeper

I know what you’re thinking…. what the heck is a culture keeper? Well, as we all know some adults become incredibly invested in sporting events. The role of the culture keeper is to keep the sideline culture positive, engaging, and overall an experience that represents Brookfield Lacrosse.

At the end of the season, this position audits the volunteer hours and reports to the Program Director who met the volunteer requirement and who will be making a $250 donation to the program.

  • Did you know that the fields don’t line themselves? How is that technology not made yet. In any case, throughout the season we need some steady hands to line and re-line the fields.

Initial lining: With guidance, help to layout the initial lines for a boys/girls field using diagrams, measuring tapes, stakes, and paint.

Line maintenance: Weekly re-trace the existing set of lines with the same color.

Return or store/lock-up the remaining paint and field liner to the designated locations.
