FAQs

Lacrosse is an awesome sport… once you understand the lay of the land. Here are some common new questions parents have as they start their journey through the excitement that is lacrosse.

This is a dynamic page so please submit your questions and we will be sure to update this site.

  • Yep, the boys and girls have different equipment requirements. Even though the boys have more padding, we still think the girls game is more intense. Anyway, check out the equipment guide that the US Lacrosse Association puts out. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask.

  • Since the game is different for boys and girls, their equipment needs are different. Don’t be fooled though, just because the boys wear pads doesn’t mean that the girls aren’t just as tough!

There are several avenues to get lacrosse equipment. Below are a few ideas to consider:-

BLA is committed that cost shouldn’t be a barrier to kids playing the game. We have connections for equipment and various other associated costs. Please reach out to us and we will be sure to get you sorted so your child can fall in love with this game too!

  • Solid question, thanks for asking. Rather than recreate the wheel and typing everything out, head on over to this site to learn the basics of the sport. If you have a bit more time, this Parent’s Guide to Lacrosse is fantastic and will help you feel like you know what’s going on come game 1.

  • The excitement of a growing sport is met with the need for more coaches. Our numbers are growing so fast that we definitely need coaches to help with our each of our various lacrosse levels. Now is a great time to talk to us if you’d like to get involved.

We’d love to talk with you and get to work teaching you the fundamentals to make a great impact with our athletes. (Background checks will be required.) Send us an email and let’s chat.

  • NICE! Thanks for supporting the club. 100% of your sponsorship (and donation) goes towards growing the game of lacrosse and the Brookfield Lacrosse Association. Please send us an email about your sponsorship interest. We are happy to welcome you aboard!

  • You read (or heard) that correctly. Each player’s parent is required to fulfil a 4 hour committment to help make our program run as smooth as butter but we are also reasonable.

We understand that life happens, kids are in multiple sports, or frankly you’re a parent and just don’t have the energy for “another thing”. We have you covered.

At the beginning of the season, BLA will ask you for a $250 volunteer deposit however, we will not cash your check immediately. BLA holds onto these checks until the end of the season. Should your family not meet the 4 hour volunteer commitment, the check will be cashed. If you managed to squeeze out 4 hours, we will return your check to you. Pretty simple and reasonable.

  • BLA does have a refund policy. You can read the details about it here.
